Wrong-Way Crash on SR 240 in Richland Injures Three
Richland, WA (December 10, 2024) On Friday evening, 24-year-old Ricardo Arroyos of Pasco and 2 other people were hurt and hospitalized after a wrong-way crash on SR 240.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the disastrous collision happened around 11 p.m.on State Route 240 near the Richland city limits.
Reports say that the wrong-way collision injured three people late Friday night.
Authorities say that Arroyos of Pasco was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes just before 11 p.m. when he collided with another vehicle heading east.
The crash injured Arroyos, his 21-year-old passenger from Benton City, and the 35-year-old Kennewick man driving the other vehicle. All three were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Law enforcement closed a portion of SR 240 for about an hour while they investigated the scene. The Washington State Patrol indicated that drugs or alcohol might have contributed to the crash, though the investigation is ongoing. The conditions of the injured parties remain unclear.
Drive Safely
When driving, always be mindful of traffic laws and road conditions. If you encounter a vehicle or driver behaving erratically—whether by weaving between lanes, tailgating, or speeding, give them plenty of space. It’s often best to change lanes and stay clear of dangerous drivers.
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol can lead to devastating consequences. If you or someone you know struggles with substance use, seek help to ensure everyone’s safety on the road. Let’s work together to prevent tragedies.
