Passenger Injured in Malaspina Road Fatal Crash
San Juan Capistrano, CA (January 31, 2023) – On Sunday night, passenger Rex Devenny, 19, of San Juan Capistrano, and driver Riley Sullivan, 21, of Creston, died in a Rancho Viejo Road vehicle crash.
The Orange County sheriff’s deputies responded minutes past 10 p.m. to the area of Malaspina Road, east of the 5 Freeway.
When they arrived, officers located Rex Devenny and Riley Sullivan dead in the front seats of a sedan.
Moreover, the medical team rushed a third man, who was in the back seat, to Mission Hospital with critical injuries.
Officers said the men were riding a car that slammed into a tree.
Subsequently, the officers are investigating if speed, distracted driving, drugs, or alcohol, played a role in the San Juan Capistrano crash.
