2 People Dead in Osage Boat Accident on Gasconade River near Pointers Creek
OSAGE, MO (September 4, 2024) – Sunday night, Reven Newbound died in a devastating boat crash on Gasconade River.
The incident happened at around 7:00 p.m. on the Gasconade River, just upstream from Pointers Creek.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a southbound 2002 Gator Boat struck a root wad in the water and crashed into a rock bluff.
Officers confirmed that the driver of the boat, identified as 30-year-old Newbound, and a 7-year-old juvenile passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene.
An air ambulance airlifted 29-year-old Samantha Newbound to Univeristy Hospital with serious injuries. Then, Osage and Cole County EMS transported a 9-year-old, a 4-year-old, and an infant, to a hospital with serious injuries. Also, paramedics treated and released 21-year-old Taylor M. McClure who sustained minor injuries in the crash.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the MSHP continued to investigate the crash.
