Two People Hospitalized after being Struck by Car near Benson Hill Elementary School
RENTON, WA (April 23, 2018) – A mother and child were hospitalized after being struck by a car on the 18400 block of 116th Avenue Southeast, on Monday morning.
The accident took place around 8:00 AM in the Benson Hill area in the school zone of Benson Hill Elementary School. Information leading up the accident is still under investigation, but the driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police officials.
Police and emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the crash to find both pedestrians with major injuries. The mother and her child were transported to the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. She was listed to be in serious condition, while the child was listed in critical condition.
Officials blocked off 116th from Petrovitsky Road to Southeast 192nd Avenue for about an hour. The investigation on the accident is still ongoing, and anyone with more information is urged to contact Detective Clarence Tolliver at the Renton Police Department.
