Renell Dudley Jr Killed in Three-Car Crash on Interstate 80 [Solano County, CA]

1 Killed and 1 Critically Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-80 at Carquinez Bridge

SOLANO COUNTY, CA (July 23, 2018) – A man was killed Monday afternoon and another was seriously injured following a crash near the Carquinez Bridge toll plaza.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly before 3:30 PM. A Dodge Charger was traveling on eastbound Interstate 80 when it rear-ended an Isuzu box truck stalled in the No.4 lane.

The driver of the Dodge, 38-year-old Renell Dudley Jr of Richmond, and the driver of the Isuzu exited their vehicles to exchange information. They were standing on the pedestrian rail when a semi-truck broadsided the Isuzu. The impact pushed the vehicle to the drivers and pinned them against the railing.

Dudley and the Isuzu driver were airlifted to the John Muir Medical Center in critical condition. Unfortunately, Dudley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. The truck driver, identified as a 22-year-old Vallejo man, sustained life-threatening injuries. A passenger inside the Dodge and the driver of the semi-truck were reportedly unharmed.

No other information has been released to the public at this time, as officials continue their investigation.
