Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 10 Freeway in Redlands
REDLANDS, CA (January 19, 2019) – A man was killed after being struck by a car Saturday night in Redlands, CHP officials said.
The fatal incident happened around 6:43 p.m. on eastbound 10 Freeway at Orange Street.
According to witnesses, a male pedestrian wearing a windbreaker jumped a fence on the southbound side of the freeway and darted across lanes toward the cener divider before being struck.
Responding paramedics located the man’s body lying on the second lane and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim and information on the involved driver were not immediately available.
Only the right-hand lane of eastbound traffic had been re-opened to traffic as of 9:00 p.m. as the investigation continued.
The circumstances of the collision were being investigated by the CHP’s San Bernardino-area office.
