Police Officer Hospitalized, Amanda Vasquez Arrested in DUI Crash on Airport Road in Redding
Redding, CA (August 23, 2020) – Sunday morning, a Redding officer sustained injuries in a DUI crash on Airport Road and Hartnell Avenue.
The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on August 23.
Authorities say the suspect was driving at high speed and didn’t stop at the stop sign hitting the off-duty officer’s vehicle, causing it to roll down an embankment and trapping the officer inside the car.
Medics then transported both the driver and the officer to a local hospital.
Moreover, the suspect identified as a 41-year-old Amanda Velazquez of Burney was found with what police believe is methamphetamine, and she admitted to using drugs recently.
At this time, Velazquez is facing charges on driving under the influence, causing injury.
Further investigation is ongoing.
