1 Person Critical After Crash on Curtola Parkway in Vallejo

Vallejo, CA (September 26, 2024) – On Wednesday morning, two people sustained injuries, including one in critical condition after a crash on Curtola Parkway.

A collision between a car and a city maintenance truck in Vallejo injured two people, including one in critical condition, and two firefighters were hurt during the rescue, according to fire officials.

At around 8:35 a.m., first responders were alerted to a car fire at the intersection of Curtola Parkway and Solano Avenue. 

Upon arrival, they found a two-door sedan and a City of Vallejo Corporation Yard maintenance truck involved in a rear-end collision, with significant damage and the car in flames, according to the Vallejo Fire Department.

Police officers used fire extinguishers from their vehicles to try to control the fire, while firefighters, who had just finished working on a vegetation fire, quickly arrived and approached the burning vehicle. 

They found the driver trapped inside and performed an emergency rescue through the driver’s side window.

The critically injured driver was transported to a nearby trauma center. 

Paramedics administered tranexamic acid to control blood loss and performed a needle decompression to stabilize the patient before reaching the hospital.

An occupant from the maintenance truck was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. 

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries during the rescue and were taken to a hospital for evaluation, according to officials.
