52-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Injured in Collision with Pickup Truck at Artesia Boulevard
BUENA PARK, CA (October 8, 2018) – An man was killed on Monday evening in a bicycle collision on Darlington Avenue. The deceased victim was later identified as 52-year-old Raymond William Jaso of Orange County. He was California Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva’s brother.
According to reports, the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Darlington Avenue and Artesia Boulevard.
Jaso riding his bicycle in the area when he was struck by a pickup truck, around 6:18 PM. Events leading up to the collision are unclear at this time, but the truck driver remained on site and cooperated with officials during their investigation.
No other information is available at this time and it is not yet certain what caused the collision.
Jaso was homeless after a longtime battle with alcoholism, and he recently began drinking again after walking away from a county-run treatment program. His homelessness, and struggles with alcohol and mental health issues, should do nothing to diminish the tragedy of Jaso’s life or death.
