Boy Hospitalized after Pedestrian Accident at Merced Chevron Station
MERCED, CA (July 27, 2019) – On Saturday night, police arrested 62-year-old Raymond Scott after injuring a 2-year-old boy in a DUI pedestrian accident on Martin Luther King Drive near a Chevron gas station.
According to the Merced Police Department, the incident happened around 9:30 PM near 11th Street. Authorities stated Scott drove a white pickup truck and struck the boy. As a result, the victim’s body went under the tires.
Paramedics arrived at the scene. The child was flown to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera for moderate injuries. However, his current medical condition is unknown at this time.
Police did not release the identity of the victim to the public.
Law Enforcement arrested Scott for felony DUI causing injury at Merced County Jail.
The surrounding area closed for a brief time for preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. Police did not announce further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
