Marco Antonio Alvarez and Ivan Daniel Mejia Injured in Solo-Car Crash near Bennett Road

 
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (June 5, 2018) – One man was killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle accident on Dillon Road, on Tuesday evening. The deceased victim was identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office as 25-year-old Raymond Morin of Desert Hot Springs.
 
The accident occurred around 7:00 PM on Dillon Road, just west of Bennett Road.
 
27-year-old Marco Antonio Alvarez of Desert Hot Springs was driving his 1998 Honda SUV, when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a palm tree. Tawny Cabral, the spokeswoman with the Riverside County Fire Department, stated that at least one victim had to be cut from the wreckage by crew members.
 
All three occupants in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Morin was pronounced dead at 10:13 AM on Wednesday, while Alvarez and 23-year-old Ivan Daniel Mejia of Desert Hot Springs were in critical condition. There is no update on their current medical status.
 
Alvarez was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing injury, and additional charges regarding Morin’s death. Officials from the California Highway Patrol Indio Office continue to investigate the fatal collision. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
