Injuries Reported in Lompoc Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 1 and San Antonio Road
LOMPOC, CA (April 18, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, Raymond Guerra was arrested after a startling DUI crash on Highway 1 and San Antonio Road.
The incident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. when Guerra drove a 2016 Ford Fiesta north on Highway 1 in the fast lane just south of San Antonio Road West.
A collision involving four vehicles occurred when the driver of a sedan allowed their vehicle to cross the center median. At the time of the incident, a 20-year-old Lompoc woman was driving a 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup southbound at a speed of approximately 50-60 mph, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The sedan, driven by Guerra, entered the southbound lanes directly in the path of the pickup truck, resulting in a collision.
Simultaneously, a 54-year-old Lompoc woman operating a 2022 Toyota Highlander and a 60-year-old Milpitas man driving a 2016 Chevy Colorado pickup truck was traveling in the same direction behind the Chevy Silverado. These drivers were unable to avoid the crash and collided with the two vehicles, leading to a four-vehicle collision, according to CHP.
Guerra, the driver of the Chevy Silverado, and the Toyota Highlander sustained major injuries in the crash. The driver of the Chevy Colorado sustained moderate injuries.
All injured individuals were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. Guerra, who was ejected from his vehicle, was airlifted to the hospital by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Following the incident, CHP arrested Guerra on suspicion of driving under the influence at the hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and the Buellton Area CHP is urging anyone with information to contact them at 805-691-6160.
What’s Next after the Crash Involving Raymond Guerra
Gas costs have yet to descend, and even so, traffic on California highways has carried on as busy and as dangerous as ever.
Hence, it is important to drive defensively/abide by all driving laws. Moreover, this will ensure your safety and the safety of surrounding vehicles, motorists, and pedestrians.
The aftershock of an accident is not something to be dealt with alone. The burden is meant to be shared; preferably, with a community that knows how to handle the effects
