Phoenix, AZ (November 16, 2023) – On Wednesday night, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed 39-year-old Ray Welch in a crash on 67th Avenue and Buckeye Road.

Officers, responding to reports of a crash in the area of 67th Avenue and Buckeye Road around 7:45 p.m., discovered an injured man on the road. 

The victim, identified as 39-year-old Ray Welch, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to detectives, Welch was walking across Buckeye Road outside a marked crosswalk when a vehicle struck him. 

The driver fled the scene before officers arrived.
