30-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies after Collision with U-Haul Truck near Gaines Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 16, 2018) – A man was fatally injured following a fiery motorcycle crash near Riverwalk Golf Club. The victim was later identified as 30-year-old Ray Anthony Espinoza Jr by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to San Diego police, the incident took place at about 12:30 PM on August 16. Espinoza was riding a motorcycle that was headed west on Friars Road when it slammed into the back of a U-Haul truck as it turned onto Gaines Street.
The impact threw the rider from his motorcycle, which burst into flames. Espinoza sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital in grave condition. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead eight days after the accident.
