1 Person Dead in Napa Traffic Accident on Silverado Trail near Oak Knoll Avenue

NAPA, CA (November 1, 2023) – Monday morning, Raul Ortiz sustained injuries in a fatal head-on crash on Silverado Trail near Oak Knoll Avenue.

The incident happened at around 9:25 a.m. in the 5300 block of the Silverado Trail, north of Oak Knoll Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound 1995 Toyota sedan veered across the center line and collided head-on with a northbound three-axle 2014 Kenworth with a flatbed trailer.

Moreover, an American Medical Response ambulance rushed the 57-year-old male driver of the Toyota to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Then, responders transported a passenger of the Toyota, 31-year-old Ortiz to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries. Also, officers confirmed that the truck driver, 36-year-old Mauricio Caballero, sustained no injuries in the incident.

Furthermore, authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate the crash.
