Raul Gonzalez of Santa Barbara Arrested in East Cota Street Fatal DUI Crash [Santa Barbara, CA]

Santa Barbara, CA (November 28, 2021) – On Saturday, the authorities arrested 48-year-old Raul Gonzalez of Santa Barbara in a DUI crash on East Cota Street that killed a male motorcyclist.

The authorities responded to the crash scene at 1:55 p.m. at the intersection with Salsipuedes Street near Ortega Park.

When the officers arrived, they found an adult male unresponsive lying in the roadway. The officers pronounced the rider dead at the crash scene.

Officers said that the motorcyclist was southbound in the 600 block of North Salsipuedes Street.

Then, a Jeep rear-ended the motorcycle. As a result, the cyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and was thrown 85 feet before landing on the street.

Moreover, investigators said the Jeep collided with a pick-up truck while the motorcycle struck a parked sedan.

Meanwhile, the authorities arrested the Jeep driver, Gonzalez. He faces felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and felony DUI causing injury/death charges.

Officers booked him at the Santa Barbara County Jail with a $1,000,000 bail.
