Randy Cook Hurt in Fatal Collision on State Loop 335 [Amarillo, TX]

Amarillo, TX (June 9, 2023) On Wednesday, a 17-year-old Amarillo girl was killed in a head-on collision on State Loop 335 that injured 63-year-old Randy Cook.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the 2-vehicle crash happened at around 12:45 a.m. on State Loop 335 about two miles south of Amarillo.

Reports say that a westbound 2010 BMW 3281 crossed over into the eastbound lane directly in the path of a semi-truck. Officials say that the semi-truck driver attempted to dodge the BMW, however, the BMW traveled back toward the westbound lane and struck the semi head-on.

The impact of the crash sent the BMW to the westbound shoulder facing east, catching fire and burning. Meanwhile, the big rig and its trailer went down an embankment.

DPS says that a 17-year-old female from Amarillo was pronounced dead at the scene, while Randy Cook, also from Amarillo, was taken to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with minor injuries.

Texas DPS is investigating the deadly 2-vehicle crash and has not released further information at this time.
