Motorist Changing Tire Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (January 18, 2019) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday evening on 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga.
The fatal crash happened around 7:36 p.m. along the westbound lanes of 210 Freeway at Archibald Avenue near Hermosa Avenue.
According to reports, the man was outside his yellow Hyundai and was standing on the shoulder, possibly changing a tire, when he was struck by a passing white Toyota Camry.
The victim’s body was seen lying on the ground just outside the driver’s side door of a smashed sedan. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
The female driver of the Camry did not stop nor render aid, according to the CHP. The car was later recovered abandoned, about two minutes away from the crash site, with significant front-end damage.
Witnesses at Liberty and Lemon did see the driver of the vehicle walking away.
At this time, authorities are still investigating the incident and on the lookout for the suspect.
