Big Rig Driver Fatally Struck by Car on 60 Freeway near Western Knolls Avenue
BEAUMONT, CA (April 5, 2019) – A big rig driver was killed after being struck by a car late Friday afternoon in Beaumont.
The fatal crash happened a little after 5:00 p.m. along eastbound 60 Freeway near Western Knolls Avenue, just West of the 10 Freeway interchange.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was traveling on the freeway when he pulled over and parked his big rig on the right shoulder. He then got out of the truck and stand outside, when a blue sedan veered onto the shoulder and hit him.
Fire crews along with the paramedics immediately responded and pronounced the truck driver dead at the scene.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as a 49-year-old Ramon Acosta Ortiz.
It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. The incident remains under investigation.
