Rafael Martinez of Waller Killed in FM 1488 DWI Collision [Magnolia, TX]

Magnolia, TX (March 4, 2023) – On Thursday, a 26-year-old truck driver, Rafael Martinez of Waller, sustained fatal injuries following an FM 1488 DWI collision.

The traffic incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. in the area of Community Road.

According to the investigating officers, a Honda SUV driver traveling on Community Road ran a stop sign and caused a collision between an Infiniti SUV and a GMC truck on FM 1488.

Unfortunately, Martinez, the truck driver, died in the collision. 

Moreover, the paramedics transported the Infiniti’s driver to a hospital to be treated.

Texas DPS identified the person who died as 26-year-old Rafael Martinez Valladares of Waller.

Officers believe that 38-year-old Daniel Hathaway, the Honda driver, was at fault. They took him into custody on suspicion of DWI. Hathaway is charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle. Reports say he was not hurt in the Magnolia fatal collision.
