Early Morning Crash on 22 Freeway in Garden Grove Kills 1 and Seriously Injures Another
GARDEN GROVE, CA (January 6, 2019) – A man was killed following a car accident early Sunday morning in Garden Grove, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash crash happened just before 1:00 a.m. on westbound 22 Freeway at Magnolia Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda carrying four people had crashed into the center divider. Two occupants in the car were taken to a hospital, one of them did not survive and was declared dead.
The deceased has been identified by the Orange County Coroner’s Office as Quyen Luu, 55, of Baldwin Park.
The other patient sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
All westbound lanes of the freeway were shut down and a SigAlert was issued in the area. All lanes were re-opened roughly around 8:14 a.m.
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol have played a role in the crash. Investigation of this incident is still ongoing.
