65-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck by DUI Driver in Quartz Hill
QUARTZ HILL, CA (December 12, 2018) – A 65-year-old man was killed after being struck by a DUI driver early Wednesday morning in Quartz Hill.
The fatal incident happened around 1:09 a.m. at the intersection of 50th Street W and West Avenue M-4.
According to an initial report, a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 was heading southbound along 50th Street at approximately 40 mph when it struck the male victim, who was walking southbound in the roadway directly in front of the truck.
The man was badly injured and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
The victim was linked to an address near where he was killed, but authorities were investigating whether he was homeless.
The unidentified driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene.
After conducting a field sobriety test, authorities determined the driver was intoxicated and arrested him, CHP officials said.
