Fernando Reyes-Plascencia and Javier Torres Rios Fatally Injured on Highway 195 Near Milepost 15
PULLMAN, WA (February 9, 2018) – A fatal semi-truck collision was reported on Friday afternoon around 12:45 PM on US Route 195, just seven miles south of Pullman.
Fernando Reyes-Plascencia and Javier Torres Rios were driving northbound in a Suzuki Swift, when the car drifted onto the shoulder, went out of control, and crashed into a southbound semi-truck.
Driver Reyes-Plascencia, 28, was pronounced dead on the scene, while 32-year-old Torres Rios was transported by air ambulance to the Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for medical treatment. He succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Sunday, according to reports. Semi driver, Derek Cocking, 28, was not injured in the collision.
Both directions of the highway were closed for several hours for investigation, and reopened on Friday night. According to officials, all parties involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
