Pregnant Mother and Child Hospitalized after Struck by Vehicle near Thornburg Street
SANTA MARIA, CA (October 16, 2018) – A pregnant woman and her son were struck and injured in a pedestrian collision on Morrison Avenue, early Tuesday evening. The victim was approximately five to six months pregnant at the time of the incident.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 5:15 PM, near Thornburg Street. The Santa Maria Police Department stated that the victim was hit by an unidentified vehicle.
Medics arrived at the scene for rescue and took the victim to the Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of a head laceration. Fortunately, the injury was not believed to be life-threatening. Her 5-year-old companion was also hospitalized.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and cooperated with police. No other information has been disclosed to the public, as an investigation is ongoing.
