Pregnant Woman Undergoes Emergency C-Section after Accident near York Street, Carlos Ortiz Arrested for DUI

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (August 25, 2018) – A pregnant woman gave birth Saturday afternoon after a DUI crash on Morton Avenue. Her name and place of residence were not immediately released to the public.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at approximately 4:30 PM, near York Street.
 
The report showed that a white Honda sedan, driven by27-year-old Carlos Ortiz of Porterville, ran the stop sign at the intersection and plowed into a Buick sedan.
 
The pregnant woman inside the Buick was taken to the hospital, where she gave birth by emergency C-section. Two other people in the car were injured. One was treated at the scene, and a second suffered serious injuries and was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Sierra View Medical Center.
 
The authorities found out that Ortiz was driving over the legal limit, with a 0.17 percent blood alcohol level. His driver’s license had also been suspended due to a prior DUI. Ortiz was arrested and booked into the Tulare County jail after being treated for minor injuries.
