Power Box Hit in Two-Vehicle Collision on Hughes Avenue Causing Citywide Power Interruption
Blaine, WA (July 21, 2020)– On Monday, a power outage was reported following a two-vehicle collision on Hughes Avenue. The incident leads to a citywide power interruption and according to the report, an estimated $100,000 City property damage.
It happened on July 13 at about 3:30 p.m. on Hughes Avenue near Odell Street. Blaine Police responded to the scene and found the wreckage of the collision, said Sargeant Michael Munden.
The investigation showed that a Sedan traveling southbound on Odell Street did not stop at a stop sign. Thus, it struck a pickup truck that was westbound on Sweet Road.
As a result, the truck was sent near the City power box affecting the power throughout most of the City. The power outage remained for several hours.
Furthermore, there were no serious injuries reported from the incident however, both vehicles were severely damaged.
