Man Fatally Injured after Ukiah Rollover Incident on Highway 101
UKIAH, CA (June 20, 2019) – A man suffered fatal injuries after a solo-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 101 in Ukiah on Tuesday, June 18.
The accident happened at 5:28 p.m. nearly two miles north of the Sonoma County line.
The CHP’s early Wednesday morning report on the crash did not identify the 46-year-old Potter Valley man.
The CHP stated that the man traveled alone in a silver 2006 Toyota pickup. He drove northbound on Highway 101 at about 80 miles per hour.
For undetermined reasons, the pickup started to skid out of control. The CHP said it moved west of the west roadway edge. After that, it continued skidding in a northeasterly direction past both lanes and onto the right-hand shoulder. Then the Toyota’s front end struck a rock and caused it to overturn.
The Toyota came to stop on all four wheels, in the northbound No. 2 lane, facing an easterly direction.
The driver did not wear his seat belt at the time of the crash. He suffered fatal injuries as a result, the CHP stated.
The CHP said the incident is still under investigation.
Our condolences remain with the family and friends of the deceased. We hope they are brought peace and comfort at this time.
