Man Wanted for Hit-and-Run Crash in Everett Neighborhood
EVERETT, WA (July 30, 2018) – Authorities continue to seek the potential buyer involved in a test drive accident in an Everett neighborhood.
Nicholle Jensen of Everett was trying to sell her 2004 Subaru Forester and put up the “For Sale” sign in her driveway. A man and his girlfriend pulled over and asked Jensen if they could test drive the vehicle.
To convince the seller to agree with the test drive, the man asked Jensen to come along. However, she declined because she had her child alone inside their home. The man then offered to leave his own car, a 1997 Chevy Malibu, and his girlfriend behind. Jensen agreed and handed the keys to the potential buyer.
After about 20 minutes, the man had not returned. Jensen immediately ordered the woman left behind to remain while she called the police.
The search for the test driver ended after the police found the Subaru significantly damaged down a residential street. Witnesses claimed that the man was speeding when the vehicle lost control and rolled over. Before fleeing the scene, the man left his shoes and socks inside the wrecked car.
Meanwhile, the man’s girlfriend found the opportunity to escape while Jensen was giving her statement to the police. It was also discovered that the Malibu was unregistered.
The man is now wanted for leaving the scene of a hit-and-run. However, he will not be charged with auto theft because Jensen gave him permission to drive the Subaru.
No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
When selling a car, it is important to remember these guidelines: always meet at a public location, ask for the potential buyer’s information, and never allow a test drive without receiving payment. In addition, make sure that your car insurance covers other drivers. This way, you can protect yourself from scheming buyers.
