Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Postal Truck in Everett
EVERETT, WA (January 22, 2019) – Tuesday afternoon, an unidentified female pedestrian in her 50s was struck and killed on Colby Avenue by a U.S Postal Service Truck.
Authorities were dispatched to the scene at 5:45 PM in the intersection of Colby Avenue and Pacific Avenue. As per reports, the victim was walking northbound on the crosswalk of Pacific Avenue. As the light changed, she was struck by a U.S Postal Service truck that was traveling westbound.
Police and paramedics arrived shortly after the reported accident. The female victim was immediately transported from the scene, but succumbed to her injuries.
The truck driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.
Due to the collision, the intersection was closed for several hours. No more details surrounding the accident have been disclosed to the public.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the body. The victims identity has not been released pending notification next of kin.
