35-Year-Old Woman Hit by Debris after Police Chase near Union Station
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 15, 2018) – A woman was injured Wednesday evening after a police pursuit ended in a pedestrian accident near 110 Freeway.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident took place at about 9:44 PM in front of Union Station. Officers were pursuing a white Nissan that was suspected to be stolen. Moments later, the vehicle lost control, jumped a curb, and slammed into a pillar.
Pedestrians near the scene were able to run away from the speeding vehicle. However, a 35-year-old woman sustained injuries after she was hit by large debris. Authorities have not revealed if the victim received treatment at the site or required hospitalization.
The woman driving the Nissan and a male passenger stayed in the car until the arrival of emergency crews. Jaws of Life had to be utilized to free the driver from the wrecked vehicle. They were later transported to a hospital after suffering unspecified injuries.
The police arrested the driver and the man, but the search for a third suspect is ongoing. As per reports, a man was seen exiting the Nissan while going southbound on Griffith Avenue in Highland Park.
