Police Officer Hospitalized After Crash on San Bruno in South San Francisco

South San Francisco, CA (August 5, 2022) – Friday afternoon, a police officer sustained injuries after being dragged and forced to the ground following a traffic stop. Shortly after, the suspected vehicle crashed in San Bruno.

Subsequently, police arrested 31-year-old Vincent Lewis Harris, of East Palo Alto, facing charges of assault on a police officer and illegal firearms possession. 

Reportedly, officers made a traffic stop at 5:18 p.m. in the 1000 block of San Mateo Avenue after observing a vehicle code violation. 

When the officers were speaking with the male driver, he suddenly restarted his vehicle and rapidly accelerated. The reason why the officer was dragged and forced to the ground.

Then the pursuit began that ended in San Bruno when the suspect crashed with the two parked vehicles after tossing a loaded firearm out of his car window.

Meanwhile, the injured officer was treated at a local hospital and released. 

Furthermore, Harris was also found to be in possession of burglary tools. Harris was transported to San Mateo County Jail.
