Police Officer Injured, Monyka McDarment Arrested in DUI Crash on Lime Street [Porterville, CA]

Officer Hospitalized after DUI Crash on Lime Street and Mulberry Avenue in Porterville

Porterville, CA (May 27, 2022) – Thursday morning, a police officer sustained injuries in a DUI crash on  Lime Street and Mulberry Avenue.

Subsequently, police arrested 41-year-old Monyka McDarment who is currently facing charges of attempted murder of a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, and narcotics possession for sales.

Reportedly, officers pulled over a black truck at around 11 a.m. on May 26 on suspicion of driving under the influence.

However, when police asked the male driver to step out, the female passenger, McDarment,  moved over into the driver’s seat and attempted to drive the vehicle.

She refused to listen to the officers, and after a short struggle, she drove off from the scene, hitting an officer with the truck.

Authorities said she drove off and abandoned the truck and tried running away. They found her moments later and took her into custody.

Moreover, they also searched her vehicle, where they say they found three ounces of methamphetamine.

Meanwhile, EMS took the injured officer to the hospital, and is now recovering at home.

McDarment is currently at the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.
