Police Officer and Driver Injured in Santa Ana Pursuit Crash on Main Street
SANTA ANA, CA (November 11, 2019) – A Santa Ana police officer suffered injuries in a pursuit crash on Main Street on Saturday, November 9.
The officer responded to a call of a pursuit shortly before 2 a.m. when he collided into a BMW i8. The incident occurred near the intersection of South Main Street and East Camille Street.
A vehicle also struck a light pole causing it to collapse. It was not immediately clear which car hit the pole.
Paramedics transported the officer and the other driver to different hospitals.
The officer sustained minor injuries but was released from the hospital the same day, according to officials.
Information on the condition of the other driver was not immediately released.
It was not determined whether the officer was driving with his lights and siren on at the time of the incident, according to a Santa Ana Police Department spokesperson.
The department is still investigating the crash.
