Off-Duty Police Officer Dead in Seattle Accident on Interstate 5
SEATTLE, WA (June 14, 2021) – Sunday morning, off-duty Seattle police officer Alexandra Harris died in a crash on Interstate 5.
Just before midnight, a multi-vehicle crash occurred south of downtown Seattle near the Spokane Street on-ramp.
As a result, all lanes were closed, except the HOV lane, which led to a lengthy traffic backup.
Apparently, a subsequent three-vehicle collision happened at about 1:18 a.m. near Columbian Way. Then, the authorities received a 911 call about a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
The authorities confirmed that Alexandra Harris had just ended her shift. Then, she stopped to help with that crash. However, a vehicle struck her and left her with fatal injuries.
According to the WSP, one of the drivers involved in the initial multi-vehicle accident took the officer’s personal vehicle. Then, the driver escaped before the state troopers arrived.
The authorities found the abandoned vehicle Sunday morning. Also, the authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to contact 425-401-7742.
The driver who hit the officer has been cooperative.
Meanwhile, the Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the collision.
Sweet Lawyers extends our condolences to the family and community of Police Officer Alexandra Harris.
