Heath Smith Killed in Plane Crash in Poolville
Poolville, TX (January 14, 2024) – On Sunday afternoon, Heath Smith and 2 others died in a plane crash in Poolville.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a preliminary report stating that the crash involved a Cessna C310 aircraft.
This aircraft, carrying three people including the pilot, was en route from Carrizo Springs, Texas, near the U.S.-Mexico border, to Bridgeport in Wise County when it met its tragic end near Poolville around 12:30 p.m.
The Parker County Sheriff’s Office reported that all three individuals aboard the plane perished in the crash.
Among the victims was Heath Smith, Vice President of the Paradise ISD Board of Trustees. Paradise ISD Superintendent Will Brewer expressed profound grief and devastation for the Smith family, acknowledging Dr. Smith’s significant role in the school district as an alumnus, parent, and board member.
Brewer highlighted Smith’s deep passion for Paradise ISD and his lasting impact on students and staff, urging people to keep the Smith family in their prayers.
The NTSB’s preliminary findings indicated that the wreckage of the plane lay 10 miles southwest of Bridgeport Municipal Airport, the intended destination.
An NTSB investigator is expected to visit the crash site to document the scene and inspect the aircraft, aiding in determining the crash’s cause.
