5-Vehicle Collision near Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg
PITTSBURG, CA (April 8, 2019) – At least one person was badly injured following a fiery multi-vehicle crash Monday morning in Pittsburg, authorities said.
The collision happened around 11:47 a.m. on Highway 4. First responders arrived at the Railroad Avenue on-ramp soon after. A total of five vehicles were reportedly involved.
A white Chevrolet Malibu became engulfed in flames and its interior was found completely burned upon officers arrival. The vehicle also suffered major front and rear-end damage. A white Isuzu 20-foot box truck also consequently caught fire.
Firefighters immediately requested at least three ambulances to the area. Three victims suffered injuries as a result of the impact. At least one of them suffered major injuries. All three patients were taken to a nearby hospital for proper treatment.
An ongoing investigation continues to determine the ultimate cause of the accident and liability.
