Male Pedestrian Trying to Run Across Highway 4 in Pittsburg Fatally Struck by Car
PITTSBURG, CA (April 10, 2019) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident Wednesday evening, on Highway 4 in Pittsburg.
To begin, the fatal crash happened just after 9:00 p.m., along the eastbound lanes of the highway. First responders arrived at the Loveridge Road off-ramp soon after.
According to reports, the pedestrian first climbed over the center divider from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes. Then, the male subsequently ran into the path of white Nissan sedan.
The unidentified man was found unresponsive in the far right lane of the highway upon officers arrival. He was pronounced dead on scene as a result of the impact. Moreover, his body was then transferred to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office.
Furthermore, the driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. More details will eventually be released once available.
It is currently unclear if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
