Man Dies after Plane Crashes into Backyard of House near Norwood Avenue
RIVERSIDE, CA (March 16, 2019) – A small plane crash on Robinson Avenue claimed the life of a pilot, late Saturday morning. Authorities did not disclose the identity of the victim.
According to the Riverside Fire Department, the incident happened in the 10500 block of Robinson Avenue, at about 11:50 AM. A twin-engine Beechcraft BE50 crashed in a residential backyard near Norwood Avenue shortly after reporting engine trouble.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the plane, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, four residents inside nearby homes did not sustain injuries. Authorities also reported minor property damage caused by debris from the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board continue to investigate the cause of the fatal plane accident. Investigators also noted that the plane was manufactured in 1956. Additional information will be released to the public following the conclusion of the investigation.
