58-Year-Old Pronounced Dead and 36-Year-Old Injured in Auto Collision near Road 164 in Visalia
VISALIA, CA (April 21, 2020) – Late Friday morning, 58-year-old Philip Turner was killed while 36-year-old Andrew McBride was injured in a car crash on Avenue 264.
California Highway Patrol responded to reports of the two-vehicle collision around 11:12 a.m., near Road 164.
Turner reportedly yielded at a stop sign in a Ford at the intersection on Avenue 264 and Road 164.
Meanwhile, Willem Plessi of Tulare, was traveling in a 2014 Ram pickup north on Road 164, near the intersection.
For unknown reasons, Turner suddenly pulled out in front of Plessi. As a result, Plessi struck the Ford’s driver’s door, leaving Turner with fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, McBride of Tulare was a male passenger inside the Ford. He suffered major injuries as a result of the impact. Medics later transported him to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for further treatment.
Reports later confirmed that Plessi remained uninjured.
At this time, authorities do not believe that impairment played a role in the crash. However, it is still unknown whether Turner and McBride were wearing their seat belts.
As police continue to investigate the incident, they are encouraging anyone with viable information to contact the CHP Visalia Area office at 734-6767.
We extend our sincere thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of Philip Turner during this difficult time.
