According to California Highway Patrol, a driver of a 2018 Nissan Sentra was attempting to pass up a big rig on the eastbound lanes of Highway 18 by using the opposing lane of traffic. However, around 7:40 p.m., the Nissan collided with a westbound 2017 GMC pickup truck, despite both drivers’ quick evasion of moving to the dirt shoulder to avoid one another.
