Peter McCluney Fatally Struck in Meadowbrook
Meadowbrook, CA (February 04, 2022) – On Wednesday, 35-year-old Peter McCluney of Homeland died in a Highway 74 pedestrian accident.
The fatal collision happened at about 6:45 p.m. on the freeway’s northbound lane at Taylor Road.
Officers said McCluney was walking in the northbound No. 1 lane when a 2003 Ford F-250 pickup driven by a 48-year-old Perris man approached.
The Ford driver was traveling at 55 mph and did not see McCluney until the last second.
The man driving the Ford slammed on his brakes but was not able to stop before impact.
Minutes later, the Riverside County Fire Department pronounced McCluney dead at the scene.
On the other hand, the Ford driver did not sustain injuries from the crash and remained on the scene.
