Peter Klabanos Dies After Auto-Pedestrian Crash on 29th Street in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (June 8, 2024) – On Saturday morning, 46-year-old Peter Klabanos died in a crash on 29th Street and Thomas Road.

Officers responded to the area of 29th Street and Thomas Road around 2:20 a.m. after receiving calls about a crash involving a pedestrian. 

When they arrived, they found 46-year-old Peter Klabanos seriously injured.

Firefighters tried to save Klabanos, but he didn’t survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

Officers believe the car hit Klabanos while he was crossing Thomas Road. Investigators say the driver showed signs of impairment and was processed for DUI before being released. 

The driver may have also been speeding.

Charges will be decided after toxicology and accident reports are complete.
