United Kingdom Residents Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Accident near Old Priest Grade
MODESTO COUNTY, CA (July 17, 2018) – Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon following a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place shortly before 1:00 PM. An eastbound 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling in the westbound lane of Highway 120 at about 30 to 40 miles per hour.
At the same time, a 2018 Chevrolet Trax was in the westbound lane of the highway near the downhill slope to Old Priest Grade. The two vehicles collided head-on as the Harley-Davidson entered a curve in the oncoming traffic lane.
The impact ejected the rider, 58-year-old Peter Hall, and his passenger, 65-year-old Mhairi Suckling. Authorities confirmed that they were both residents of the United Kingdom. Hall was transported to the Doctors Medical Center, while Suckling was taken to the Memorial Medical Center. They both sustained major injuries but are expected to recover.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 35-year-old France resident Aurore Nicaise, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Her passenger, 36-year-old Pierre Michel, was reportedly unharmed in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing to determine why Hall was driving in the incorrect lane. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
When driving, it is crucial to always be careful of motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicyclists on the road. Motorcycle accidents are extremely dangerous because of their lack of protection and lightweight bodies. By paying attention to your surroundings and driving within the designated speed limit, dangerous collisions can be prevented.
