Paulino Najera Arrested for DUI after Head-On Collision near Bean Hollow Road
PESCADERO (May 5, 2018) — A man was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle DUI crash on Highway 1, Saturday evening.
Officers got a call around 8:40 PM about a collision on State Highway 1, just south of Bean Hollow Road. Paulino Najera was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence after his car crashed head-on into another car, killing a passenger.
According to police, Najera was driving a 1998 Ford Contour heading northbound on the highway, while a 2008 Toyota 4Runner was driving southbound. The Ford crossed into the southbound lane and struck the 4Runner head-on.
Najera suffered major injuries and was transported to the Stanford Medical Center by helicopter. Another person involved in the crash also sustained major injuries and was taken to the same hospital. The man who was in the right front passenger seat of the Ford died at the scene. His identity has not yet been disclosed.
