38-Year-Old Woman Died after being Struck by Vehicle on Ramona Expressway near Perris Boulevard
PERRIS, CA (April 2, 2018) – A 38-year-old woman died in a pedestrian collision on Ramona Expressway, late Monday night.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the victim was crossing the road at Ramona Expressway outside a designated crosswalk, when she was struck by a car around 10:30 PM. The accident took place just west of Perris Boulevard.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, a 32-year-old Perris resident, was traveling eastbound on Ramona Expressway, when the vehicle struck the woman. The uninjured driver immediately stopped, called 911, and remained at the scene to cooperate with officials. He was questioned and released at the scene.
The female victim was taken to the Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley where she died about 40 minutes later, according to coroner’s reports. Sheriff’s officials stated that alcohol or drugs were not involved in the incident.
