People Injured in Chase Crash on Highway 101 [Atascadero, CA]

Atascadero, CA (July 2, 2022) – On Thursday night, people sustained injuries in a chase crash on Highway 101.

The authorities received a report of a possible DUI driver in a red Chevrolet pick-up truck on the southbound freeway.

Minutes later, the officers located the vehicle and an officer attempted to stop it, the 21-year-old male driver fled and the officers started a high-speed chase.

Reports say that the driver drove at high speeds while swerving in and out of lanes until he lost control of his car.

As a result, the vehicle collided with a blue Tesla on the southbound freeway, south of Spyglass Drive.

Immediately, the authorities arrested the driver without incident. 

The suspect’s two passengers along with the occupants of the Tesla sustained minor injuries.

In the meantime, officers are investigating the suspected DUI crash south of Spyglass Drive.
