Penny Jefferson Fatally Injured in Deming Motorcycle Accident
DEMING, WA (May 21, 2019) — A young Bellingham woman died in a motorcycle crash on Deming in Sunday, May 19.
According to the State Patrol, at around 12:17 p.m., 20-year-old Penny R. Jefferson rode her Kawasaki EX650EFF Ninja in the 4500 block of Mosquito Lake Road east of Deming. Then she went off the road after failing to negotiate a turn. This caused her to struck a power pole. She died the scene. The victim was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement, the release stated.
Troopers believe Jefferson that speed is a contributing factor when the incident happened. However, they have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
