Chapman University Dies in Glamis ATV Crash
Glamis, CA (April 19, 2022) – On Friday, a 29-year-old film student from Chapman University, Peng Wang from China, died in an off-road vehicle crash in Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area.
The fatal accident took place minutes before 1 p.m. near the Arizona border.
Officers say Bianglang Li of USC was driving on the side of a sand dune with Ting Su and Ziyang Li, both from USC, and Wang.
The students’ ATV, a 2022 Can-Am Maverick overturned and crashed down the side of the dune.
Wang was partially ejected from the vehicle and died.
According to the investigators, the three students from USC were wearing their protective equipment during the incident and survived. They said that Wang was not wearing his protective equipment.
Meanwhile, officers are investigating the factors of the crash. They said that impairment was not a factor in this incident.
