Edgar Gomez Arrested in Moreno Valley Hit-and-Run Crash that Kills Two Men
MORENO VALLEY, CA (October 18, 2019) – A second man died following a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning in Moreno Valley.
The crash happened just after 2:00 a.m. on October 18 in the parking lot of the El Rodeo Restaurant on Alessandro Boulevard.
According to reports, two men were intentionally hit by a black Ford F-150. Responding paramedics rushed the victims to a local hospital. However, the first man succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as 29-year-old Junior Rafael Gonzalez of Perris.
The second victim, later identified as Pedro Cortes Rodriguez, 39, of Moreno Valley, survived until Sunday, October 27, when he passed away from injuries sustained in the attack.
Investigators identified Edgar Gomez, a 20-year-old man from Mead Valley, as the suspect.
Gomez was arrested on October 22 near the intersection of Day and Nance streets in Perris. After that, authorities booked him at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of first degree murder and second degree murder. In addition police charged him with assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run resulting in death.
Information on what led to the incident was not immediately available. However, the sheriff’s investigation is active and ongoing.
