Burrtec Waste Garbage Truck Involved in Fatal Collision near Whittram Avenue

 
FONTANA, CA (February 7, 2020) – The authorities identified Pedro Pelayo as the truck driver killed in a crash on Cherry Avenue Friday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Whittram Avenue at approximately 5:06 PM.
 
Reports from the San Bernardino County Fire Department first showed that Pelayo, 34, was driving a Burrtec Waste garbage truck when it collided into a white Chevy Silverado pickup.
 
The vehicle then veered to the right, halting after hitting a traffic light pole.
 
First responders extricated Pelayo from the truck. Emergency personnel transported him to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
 
Doctors later pronounced him deceased.
 
The driver of the Chevy, a 48-year-old man from Fontana, was also transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
 
An investigation is on-going to determine who among the drivers ran a red light prior to the accident.
